Aztec,
New Mexico (10/31/2006): This week 14-year-old Alex Kennedy ventured to
the Midwest to test ASA Late Model Series cars with two different
teams. This youngster continues to impress every time he straps into a
racecar!
Over his short career Alex has 96 wins and 19
championships. This season Alex made the leap from Legends cars to
Super Late Models at Sandia (NM) Motor Speedway. Campaigning in local
Late Model races and longer events on the United States Late Model
Association (USLMA) circuit, Alex gained the respect of his fellow
competitors despite being the youngest driver on the track.
Alex
Kennedy will be teaming up with Lorz Motorsports at Nashville to make
his ASA Late Model debut. At just 14 years old Alex will be one of the
youngest competitors but once he straps into the car you would never
know he is 14!
Over 60 entries have been received with the best
in the ASA North, South, and Challenge series in action! Alex will get
a chance to measure his talent against some of the best drivers in the
USA at the famed Music City Motorplex on November 3,4,5.
Recently
Allen-Hock Motorsports put Alex Kennedy in the seat of one of their ASA
Late Model stock cars to see just how fast this young gun could drive
at the Baer Field (IN) Speedway.
Driving their car that is
nicknamed “Blacky,” Alex learned the line at this classic, flat
bullring from Kris Stump a veteran of ASA Late Model action. “Alex
definitely has talent. Baer Field is a very tough track to get around,
so it’s a great place to go test,” said Stump.
Day two of Alex’s
ASA Late Model testing adventure was at the Illiana (IN) Motor Speedway
working with the crew from Lorz Motorsports. This half-mile track has
been home to some of the greatest drivers in the Midwest and would be a
great challenge for Alex Kennedy.
Dan and Mike Lorz were very
impressed by this young man’s consistency and speed, especially with
his lap times getting better and better on old tires! “Alex did great,”
said Dan Lorz. “I have to keep remembering he is only 14!”
When
he is not busy testing or racing his Late Model Stock car you can find
Alex giving back to his community. The 2006 License to Read Summer
Reading Program was a huge success! Alex enjoyed getting the kid’s
autographs and pictures of the kids in the driver’s seat of his racecar.
Alex also encouraged the kids to use the library as a tool in life just as his crew uses tools to make his car go faster!
This
summer ESPN’s Mike Massaro interviewed Alex and his Dad Terry for a
special “Outside the Lines” feature about young drivers. “I can’t drive
to Sonic to get a cheeseburger but I can drive a racecar,” said Alex.
Copies of the “Outside the Lines” show are available on request.
In
addition, Alex Kennedy will be competing in the famed “”Snowball
Derby”, during the Snowflake 100 portion of the prestigious weekend;
November 30th-December 3rd at the Five Flags (FL) Speedway in
Pensacola, Florida.
This event has launched the career of many
of today’s NASCAR stars. Contact Dennis Michelsen at (847) 421-7571 for
details on sponsorship opportunities with this exciting young driver!
